Governor Murphy today has raised the capacity of indoor gatherings that include religious services and celebrations, including wedding ceremonies, funerals, and memorial services that involve a religious service, to operate at 50% capacity of the room in which they are held, with no cap on the number of individuals permitted to attend.
Individuals attending services will still be required to wear masks and sit six feet apart from those outside of their household group. All priests, deacons and extraordinary ministers will still need to practice sanitizing protocols.
CLINTON, N.J. – The women housed at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, the only women’s prison in the state of New Jersey, seem to have the cards stacked against them.
As the bishop of the Diocese of Metuchen, I have been blessed to travel throughout the four counties of our diocese, often meeting and praying with so many faithful disciples of Christ, each facing their own circumstances in life. Though my travels have been lessened by the pandemic, among those in the diocese whom I have been fortunate to meet on regular past visits are the women housed at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, situated in Hunterdon County.
We still need folks to help clean the pews and door knobs after each weekend Mass. No need to sign up. Just grab a towel and a spray bottle and be assured of our undying gratitude!
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
